New Students Start Here: Proactive safety — avoid or reduce risk before it becomes danger. This course is lecture/discussion and does not involve any physical defense.
This foundational course is where your self-defense journey begins and is required for all new students.
You’ll gain practical, research-backed tools to move through the world with greater confidence and awareness. Learn how to recognize early warning signs, trust your instincts, and take simple actions that can cut your risk of victimization in half.
PREVENT: Risk Reduction:
Reactive physical defense skills — discover your best options to respond when danger is unavoidable.
Learn the core fundamentals of practical physical defense, including: setting verbal boundaries, blocks to protect your face, fist and palm strikes, knee strikes, elbow strikes, sweep kicks, and close-quarter escapes (wrist. grabs, bear hugs, choke holds).
Connect with your power in a safe & supportive space.
All bodies and abilities — no previous experience required. We meet you where you are.

Defend One:
Review all of your Defend One techniques and take your skills to the next level. Learn additional strikes & kicks, escape from close-quarters encounters, and core ground defense.

Defend Two:
Practice your physical defense skills so that you're prepared & ready should you ever need to use them. Drill your techniques, and utilize them in functional combos to prepare for real-world conflict. Receive personalized drills & combos based on the defense options that are right for you.

For those interested in exploring non-lethal defense tools. Learn about the different types of canister weapons (pepper spray, pepper gel, defense spray), stun guns, kubatons, personal alarms, and the most effective ways to use them. No previous tool training required. Ages 18+
